This celebrated book is a narrative about an ancient patriarch who lived in Arabia. Job becomes a tragic yet faithful example of endurance (Jas. 5:11) as a test case designed to prove that God is "worthy to be praised" (Psa. 18:3), irrespective of the blessings he bestows. Job lost his wealth, his children, his health, and his friends, yet he clung to his confidence that God would eventually vindicate him (19:25-27), despite his confused and weak moments. The book demonstrates that even the best of the Lord's people are not exempt from suffering, and that our Maker must be trusted no matter what happens (13:15).
